Latvian Academy of Culture The Latvian Academy of Culture was founded on December 29, 1990. A year later, in 1991, the first 63 students commenced their bachelor study programmes. The first master study programme was introduced in 1996, and doctor degree study proogramme - in 1999. Graduates of the Latvian Academy of Culture are academically and professionally educated specialists within Latvian culture, science and education, as well as other areas. The Latvian Academy of Culture is a higher educational establishment that is approved by the Ministry of Education and Science. The Academy is entitled to issue national BA, MA and PhD diplomas until 2013. The Academy graduates hold noticable positions at diplomatic authorities in Latvia and abroad, implement and carry out cultural projects among Latvia and other European countries, address international cooperation issues in Latvian and international companies and are competitive and required teachers of humanities. Graduates of actors and directors' study programmes have become popular and internationally recognized artists of the new generation; they take the main roles at the theatres of Latvia and participate in international film projects. Television cameramen from the Academy participate in notable TV and film projects in Latvia, and are invited as jury members at international film festivals. International guest lecturers, giving theoretical courses, as well as acting and choreography workshops, regurlarly visit the Academy. www.lka.edu.lv |
